Dance/Flag Spinning

The Dundee Township Park District Dance Program has class offerings for two years and older. Styles of dance range from ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, contemporary and pointe. Dance is offered year-round with new class sessions beginning in the winter, summer, and fall. The

winter/spring session includes a dance recital that is typically held in May. We have classes for all abilities and welcome all to come dance with us! Recommended attire and shoe colors are shown for your convenience at discountdance.com. The website provides competitive pricing and purchasing convenience. It is not necessary to purchase directly from this website. On the website, do a “Find My Teacher” and enter Teacher ID# 65469. On the line that says “Available,” click the studio/store page. Once in the store, choose the class you are in for dress code options.

Adult Ballet 14 years & older This class is good for the beginner through the experienced dancer. Dancers can work at their own pace– come for the fun and exercise. Great Class for Mother & Daughter/Son. This class will not be in dance recital. 24323-00 April 1-May 13 M/7:00-8:00 pm $72(R)/$92(NR) RA 18 years & older This fun atmosphere will provide an introduction to tap, focusing on the fundamental footwork and techniques of tap dancing and rhythm. Routines will be taught. 24325-00 April 2-May 7 Tu/12:00-12:50 pm $27(R)/$27(NR) RA 18 years & older Advanced tap goes deeper into the detail of footwork and rhythm combinations while still focusing on the technique behind the work. Participants will learn routines in a fun atmosphere. 24326-00 April 2-May 7 Tu/11:00-11:50 am $27(R)/$27(NR) RA 6-14 years Toss a flag; catch the fun! Level 1 is open to brand new beginners and students with some flag/color guard experience. Students will learn basic flag spinning, tossing fundamentals and short routines to music while building hand-eye coordination, self- esteem and confidence. Students are grouped by age and experience. Contractual 24236-00 April 2-May 7 Tu/5:30-7:00 pm $60(R)/$75(NR) RA 9-16 years Level 2 classes are open to all students who have previous flag/ color guard experience. Intermediate flag spinning, tossing, dancing, and choreography with greater emphasis on technique will be taught by Allegiance Color Guard. Routines will be more layered and complex than Level 1. This class can also supplement and enrich marching band color guard student’s skills. Content will be differentiated according to students’ abilities. Flag Spinning Please wear comfortable athletic clothing (no jeans or skirts), tennis shoes, and have hair pulled back and secured away from the face and shoulders. Bring a water bottle. Flags are provided by Allegiance Color Guard. Family and friends are invited to a special showcase performance on May 7. www.allegiancecg.org
