Dance

The Dundee Township Park District Dance Program has class offerings for two years and older. Styles of dance range from ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, contemporary and pointe. Dance is offered year-round with new class sessions be ginning in the winter, summer, and fall. The winter/spring session includes a dance recital that is typically held in May. We have classes for all abilities and welcome all to come dance with us! Dance classes are held in the dance studio at the Rakow Center.

Preschool Ballet I 3-4 years Learn beginning ballet techniques, basic positions, form at the ballet barre and creative routines. 44300-02 Sept. 10-Nov. 19 Sa/9:00-9:45 am $99(R)/$119(NR) RA Kinder Ballet 5-6 years This class will emphasize beginning ballet techniques and positions. Creative routines and form at the ballet barre will be taught. 44302-01 Sept. 10-Nov. 19 Sa/11:00-11:45 am $99(R)/$119(NR) RA Ballet I 6-9 years Ballet is a base for all dance forms that instills grace and coor dination. This class will include proper placement, barre work, and center work. 44303-01 Sept. 10-Nov. 19 Sa/12:00-1:00 pm $108(R)/$128(NR) RA Ballet II 9-12 years Proper placement and control to execute ballet moves will be included. Students will also focus on strength and flexibility. More intricate jumps and turns will be introduced. 44305-00 Sept. 8-Dec. 1* Th/5:30-6:30 pm $117(R)/$137(NR) RA *No Class: 11/24 Ages serve as a guideline only. Dundee Township Park District reserves the right to place dancers in classes suitable to ability. Go to www.discountdance.com for required class attire. It is not necessary to purchase directly from this website, but colors of shoes and recommended attire will be shown for your convenience. The website will provide competitive pricing and purchasing convenience. On website click “Find My Teacher” and enter Teacher ID: 65469. On the line that says Available click Studio/Store Page. Once in the store, choose the class you are enrolled in and it will give the dress code and options you can choose from.

Ballet III 12-18 years Refining technique, the quality of movement and perfecting skills will all be included in this class. Instructor approval required. 44312-00 Sept. 8-Dec. 1* Th/6:45-8:00 pm $123(R)/$143(NR) RA *No Class: 11/24 Adult Ballet 16 years & older This class is good for the beginner through the experienced dancer. Dancers can work at their own pace. Come for fun! Come for exercise! 44323-00 Sept. 12-Oct. 17 M/7:00-8:00 pm $59(R)/$79(NR) RA 44323-01 Oct. 24-Nov. 28 M/7:00-8:00 pm $59(R)/$79(NR) RA Pre Pointe 8-18 years An introduction to Pointe. Students should also be enrolled in Ballet II or III. Readiness for pointe work is determined by each student’s strength and physical development, not by age. Instructors will notify parents and students when they have the necessary strength and maturity to go on pointe. 44304-00 Sept. 8-Dec. 1 * Th/6:30-6:45 pm $30(R)/$50(NR) RA *No Class: 11/24 Pointe 12-18 years Students must have prior ballet experience and be enrolled in Ballet III .
