Dance

Pre Pointe 8-18 years An introduction to Pointe. Readiness for Pointe work is deter mined by each student’s strength and physical development, not by age. Instructors will notify parents and students when they have the necessary strength and maturity to go on to Pointe. Students must have prior ballet experi ence and be enrolled in Ballet III. 34309-00 June 4-July 16* Tu/7:30-8:00 pm $32(R)/$47(NR) RA *No Class: 7/2 Contemporary II & III 9-18 years A style of expressive dance combined with classical, jazz, and modern elements to connect the mind and body through move ment. The student must be enrolled in a ballet class as well. While emphasizing on rhythm and attitude, dancers will be encouraged to give ideas on choreographing. 34316-00 June 14-July 26* F/6:35-7:35 pm $63(R)/$78(NR) RA *No Class: 7/5 Preschool Tap & Jazz 3-4 years This class encompasses stretch, movement, and rhythmic dance within a group. Ballet shoes are worn for the stretching/move ment portion of class. Young ones will be introduced to wearing tap shoes with rhythmic music to tap a beat with their feet. children will be encouraged to remove ballet slipper and replace with tap shoes on their own. 34311-00 June 3-July 15* M/5:00-5:45 pm $59(R)/$74(NR) RA *No Class: 7/1 Mini Jazz 4-6 years Learn fun choreography to upbeat music, as well as basic to intermediate leaps, turns, and jumps. Turns and Jumps Camp 10-18 years Concentration will be on the technical aspect of leaping, jumping, and turning while focusing on weight and direction changes. Dancers will strive for the development of balance, strength, elevation, and body alignment. 34331-00 June 6-July 18* Th/5:15-6:15 pm $63(R)/$78(NR) RA *No Class: 7/4 Advanced Jazz 12-18 years Dancers will be challenged and improve their jazz technique. Students will learn new choreography and will have the chance to perform their routine at events in addition to the spring dance recital. Prior dance experience is required. Urban Dance I 6-9 years Beginner “street dance,” students will learn the basics of popping and locking, house dance and voguing. 34360-00 June 8-July 20* Sa/1:15-2:00 pm $59(R)/$74(NR) RA *No Class: 7/6 Urban Dance II 9-12 years Intermediate “street dance”, students must know the basics of popping and locking. We will learn more voguing and more pop ping and locking and will start to learn the basics of breakdance. 34361-00 June 8-July 20 Sa/2:15-3:15 pm $63(R)/$78(NR) RA Urban Dance III 12-18 years Advanced “street dance”We will learn more about breakdance. Students must know the basics of popping and locking, voguing and basic breakdance. Strength building. 34362-00 June 8-July 20 Sa/3:30 am-4:30 pm $63(R)/$78(NR) RA Adult Tap 18 years & older This tap class goes deeper into the detail of footwork and rhythm combinations while still focusing on the technique behind the work.
