Winterfest 2025 December 6-7, 13-14, 20-21 Saturdays & Sundays • 12:00-8:00 pm

PARAMOUNT THEATRE

Dear Evan Hansen 2 years & older “Dear Evan Hansen: Today is going to be a good day and here’s why…”That’s how Evan starts every day, writing himself a letter about why it’s going to be a good day. A coping mechanism for this lonely, anxious high schooler looking to fit in. It’s because of these letters that Evan finds himself telling a well-meaning, little white lie that snowballs into a blizzard of untruths. In the end, his unforgettable journey demonstrates there is a place for everyone to feel love, acceptance and to be seen—even when you make mistakes. Transportation will be on your own to the Paramount Theatre, 23 E. Galena Blvd., Aurora IL 60506. When we receive the tickets one week prior to the performance, we will call you to pick them up at either our Rakow or Randall Oaks Recreation Centers. Lobby doors open 1 hour prior to show time. Theater seating begins 30 minutes prior to the 2:00 pm show time. 19571-00 Feb. 21 Sa/2:00-4:30 pm $40(R)/$48(NR)

Step into the magic of the season with Winterfest! Stroll through enchanting holiday lights and festive decorations, and cozy up with the animals in the new, World of Wonders heated animal building. Don’t miss Santa’s visits from 2:00-6:00 pm! View the lights display after sunset. It’s a family holiday experience you won’t want to miss!

Groundhog Day February 2 Groundhogs are also known as

woodchucks and whistle pigs. Whatever you call him, “Cedar” the groundhog is going to predict the weather. At 1:00 pm, meet our zookeepers in the zoo for a fun groundhog party! We will share a story, learn about ground hog lore, and sing to Cedar. All activities are free with zoo admission.

New Lightning Detection System Installed The Dundee Township Park District has replaced its Thor Guard Lightning and Prediction System with the Perry Weather plat form. This weather safety system warns when lightning and other potentially dangerous weather conditions are imminent. Unlike other systems that rely on weather predictions, Perry Weather uses technology that collects real-time, site-specific conditions for more accurate monitoring and alerting.

The Perry Weather outdoor warning system is a completely wireless, cloud-based emergency alert and lightning warning system that is constantly operational and integrated with the most reliable lightning detection network to provide weather risk monitoring and warning.

This new warning system utilizes technology based on actually detected lightning strikes in the area instead of predictive technology, which can often give false alarms. This will enable the park district to provide guests and staff with more reliable, real-time information about potential lightning activity at Randall Oaks Golf Course, Randall Oaks Park & Zoo, Bonnie Dundee Golf Course, and Dolphin Cove Family Aquatic Center. When lightning is detected in the area, Perry Weather activates outdoor sirens and warning systems across our facilities listed above. The Dundee Township Park District staff will also receive notification alerts through the use of Perry Weather’s mobile app, helping ensure safe programming and facilities at Park District locations. The goal is to give everyone time to seek shelter quickly and safely.
