Our Executive Director A Message From Welcome, Commissioner Pam Griffin Commissioner Griffin was sworn in as our newest board member in May 2023 and brings a lot of energy and a willingness to ask questions and learn about the history of the Park District. Griffin’s election to the Board provides a new board member for the first time since 2007. She raised her family in the Dundee Township community and looks forward to serving on the board and the residents of the Dundee Town ship Park District. Woodland School Conveyance The Dundee Township Park District played a critical role and collaborated with Barrington School District 220 and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Dundee Township by temporarily taking
Sleepy Hollow Pool The Park Board and staff held an infor mational meeting on September 27 to update the community on the challeng es and conditions of the 60+ year-old pool. It is scheduled to close after the 2025 season as long as the integrity of the pool shell allows. The Park District is tasked with determining the next steps with consideration of a west side aquatic facility. The community will be engaged in this process, so please stay tuned for upcoming opportunities. The Park Board and staff wish you a wonderful holiday season and hope you take the time to visit our facilities, parks, and partake in our programs.
ownership of the shuttered Woodland School in Carpentersville in 2023 and then turning around and conveying it to the local Boys and Girls Club in the Fall of the same year. The property sat empty for many years and now will be converted by the Boys and Girls Clubs to the Woodlands Impact Center and provide vital services directed to under-served middle and high school students attending Barrington schools in their daily afterschool and summer programs. Grant Project Updates The small animal zoo building at Ran dall Oaks Park began construction in the summer of 2023 and is scheduled to be completed in 2024. This new facility will house many of our reptiles in a climate-controlled environment and be open year-round to zoo visitors. This project funding includes a $750,000 grant from the Public Museum Capital Grants Program – Illinois Department of Natural Resources, Illinois State Museum.
