Dance

The Dundee Township Park District Dance Program has class offerings for two years and older. Styles of dance range from ballet,

tap, jazz, hip hop, contemporary, Latin, musical theater and pointe. Dance is offered year-round with new class sessions beginning in the winter, summer, and fall. The winter/spring session includes a dance recital that is typically held in May. We have classes for all abilities and welcome all to come dance with us! Dance classes are held in the dance studio at the Rakow Center.

Preschool Ballet I 3-4 years Basic Ballet technique and terms are taught while learning how to stretch, move, and perform. Ballet barre is introduced with center floor and across floor routines. Students need Ballet shoes. Last class, parents are invited for a final performance show. 34300-00 June 9-July 14 Th/4:30-5:15 pm $54(R)/$69(NR) RA 34300-01 June 9-July 14 Th/9:00-9:45 am $54(R)/$69(NR) RA Kinder Ballet 5-6 years This class will emphasize beginning ballet techniques. Creative routines and form at the ballet barre will be taught. 34302-01 June 9-July 14 Th/10:00-10:45 am $54(R)/$69(NR) RA Ballet I 6-9 years Ballet is a base for all dance forms that instills grace and coor dination. This class will include proper placement, barre work, and center work. 34303-00 June 8-July 13 W/4:30-5:15 pm $54(R)/$69(NR) RA

Ballet II 9-12 years Proper placement and control to execute ballet moves will be included. Students will also focus on strength and flexibility. More intricate jumps and turns will be introduced. 34310-00 June 7-July 12 Tu/5:00-6:00 pm $59(R)/$74(NR) RA Ballet III 12-18 years Redefining technique, the quality of movement, and perfect ing skills will all be included in this class. Instructor approval required. 34312-00 June 7-July 12 Tu/6:15-7:30 pm $62(R)/$77(NR) RA Pre Pointe 8-18 years An introduction to Pointe. Readiness for Pointe work is deter mined by each student’s strength and physical development, not by age. Instructors will notify parents and students when they have the necessary strength and maturity to go on to Pointe. It is not necessary to purchase directly from this website, but colors of shoes and recommended attire will be shown for your convenience. Once in the store, choose the class you are enrolled in and it will give the dress code and options you can choose from.
