New class sessions begin in the winter, summer, and fall. The winter/spring session includes a dance recital that is held in May.

Ballet (Preschool – Pre-Pointe) Ballet classes will help dancers with posture, flexi bility, fitness, balance, self-discipline, and self-con fidence. Students are taught proper body place ment, body alignment, barre, and center-floor work, along with across-the-floor combinations. Contemporary (II & III) Contemporary dance encourages dancers to be versatile in their expressions and to be able to por tray a wide array of movement styles and emotions. Jazz (Mini-Tap & Jazz II) Jazz dance includes strength, flexibility, and con ditioning techniques and progressions including turns, kicks, and leaps. In a jazz class, the dancers also learn many fun and trendy dance steps that are used for all forms of dance. Advanced Jazz Dancers will enhance their jazz technique and learn new choreography. Prior dance experience is required, and enrollment is at the instructor’s discretion. Tap (Kinder-Teen) Students learn rhythmic steps, heel/toe com binations, and how to create sounds with their feet. Tap classes may also help students develop coordination, timing, and strength in their knees and ankles. As students progress, they may learn more challenging steps like shuffles, flaps, time steps, drawbacks, and cramp rolls. Adult Tap Exercise in a fun atmosphere. Learn tap technique and fundamental footwork. Challenge your brain and your feet learning rhythm combinations in routines. All levels welcome. Street Dance (I-III) In street dance, students will learn the basics of popping and locking, voguing, and start to learn the basics of breakdancing/hip hop. Determination Dance (DTPD Dance Team) Competitive Dance Team by invitation only. Street Competition Team Competitive Dance Team by invitation only.

Ages serve as a guideline only. Dundee Township Park District reserves the right to place dancers in classes suitable to ability.
