Sunshine Symphony at the Zoo Saturday, June 21 Join us in bringing musical enrichment to the animals! Celebrate the summer solstice at the zoo with performances from local choirs, children’s bands, and dance groups. Enjoy a day of harmony with nature and music! 1180 N. Randall Rd. | West Dundee A Facility of Dundee Township Park District Hours: March 29-Nov 2: 9:00 am-5:00 pm Animals and plants thrive together in perfect harmony. Birds, bats, butterflies, and bees transport pollen from plant to plant, enabling the production of seeds. This ancient partnership is vital for human food security and the well-being of all living things. Pollinators are key to maintaining healthy ecosystems that benefit us all. Come taste local honey, play fun pollinator-themed games, make creative headbands, and take home native wildflower seeds. Join us for a day of pollinator fun! Nutty for Nocturnals Friday, August 8 • 5:00 pm-8:00 pm The Zoo will be open until 8:00 pm! Enjoy special zookeeper chats and learn about the zoo’s nocturnal animals. General Info

Executive Director: Dave Peterson, CPRP (847) 428-7131 x4001 | davepeterson@dtpd.org

Message from the Executive Director Enjoy our many offerings! With two golf courses, two fitness centers, a petting zoo, Dolphin Cove Family Aquatic Center, 40+ parks and open spaces, and hundreds of summer programs, there is plenty to do to stay engaged recreationally. Capital Projects Update Canterfield Park Canterfield Park is open to our community. This newest park is located on the southwest corner of Route 31 and Boncosky Road. The Village of West Dundee owns it, but the Park District leases and maintains it. The park has a walking path, playground, exercise equipment, shelter, and benches to enjoy nature. Please bring your family over to this park and check it out. Besinger Park Improvements We are collaborating with Hitchcock Design Group to apply for a grant to enhance this location with a splash pad and other rec reational amenities. If awarded the grant, construction is slated for 2026. This project will introduce a second splash pad to our community, located on the east side. Playground Replacements Two playgrounds, Kemper Park and Carrington Park, were replaced in 2025. Both playgrounds had reached their life expectancy of approximately 20 years. The removed playgrounds have been donated to Kids Around the World, an agency that delivers, refur bishes, and installs used playgrounds in many different countries. Deerpath Park’s playground will be replaced in 2025. We have 35 playgrounds throughout our parks, which are inspected monthly, and replacement parts are installed to keep them safe. Park District Finances The 2025/2026 budget was presented and approved in April. The Park District finished the fiscal year ending April 30, 2025, with a projected surplus and met its fund balance policy. The adopted budget includes $2.4 million in capital spending and intentional spending down to adhere to the fund balance policy. The Park District learned recently that S&P had upgraded it from an A to an A+. This is beneficial for obtaining favorable interest rates when borrowing. The good performance of our golf courses since the onset of COVID-19 contributes to this improved rating.
