Specialty Camps

Go Girl Go! Camp - Sports R Us 5-7 years Basic skills in basketball, soccer, kickball, T-ball and much more are taught, and games are played at the end of each class. The girls will do sports for the first half of the camp and do a fun craft for the second half. The last class will be a fun sport of their choice and a fun tie-dye project. In these high intensity live action movies the special effects will blow your mind. In groups, you’ll get to direct, act, and even choose special effects to incorporate into your movies. Make a movie that will surprise all your friends and family! A $35 production fee is included to cover the cost of your professionally edited and emailed movie within a month of the class ending. Work in groups to create a stop-motion movie full of games or challenges for your character to overcome. Students will create their sets out of construction paper, make their Mine craft blocks, film, add some cool effects, and do voice-overs! A $35 production fee is included to cover the cost of your professionally edited and emailed movie within a month of the class ending. Survivor Camp 9-14 years Surviving and thriving in the space we share with nature requires a diversity of skills, specialized knowledge, and a preparedness mindset. Can you identify plants, animals, or fungi that occur naturally where you live? Do you know how to keep your body protected and healthy to travel long distances on foot? Are there ideas that artistic expression can communicate that words cannot? Join the Friends of the Fox River for camp this summer at the Schweitzer Environmental Center and immerse yourself in sensory-based outdoor learning experiences. If you would like to enroll in multiple sessions, be aware that some content will be repeated week to week. All campers must have a bike in working condition (preferably a gear bike) and a bike helmet. Campers need to bring a backpack with a swimsuit, towel, lunch, water bottle, sunscreen, and a bike lock daily. Each camper must be signed in and out each day at the Rakow Center by an authorized adult. Hurry! This camp is limited to 12 campers each week! Participants may additionally register for Before and After Camp Care at the Rakow Center.
