Special Events

Let us lure you in for a day of fishing! We will have all the equipment needed or you can bring your own. Each child will get a small tackle box filled with bobbers, lures and more. We will also have other giveaways, prizes, crafts and games. Each registered family will get a fishing spot (for 30 minutes) and instruction as needed. An Illinois Fishing license is required for participants 16 years and older. When registering, please let us know how many Children under age 16 will be fishing. Letter From the Executive Director On behalf of the Board of Commissioners, we wish you an amazing summer ahead! We have a ton of awesome pro grams and facilities for you to enjoy, like beautiful parks, swimming, golfing, summer camps, a zoo, and much more. With 42 parks to choose from, you can reconnect with nature or discover a new park. Finally, don't miss out on the Concerts in the Park series - let the music fill the air this summer! Aquatic Needs Assessment & Community Engagement Update Although our Sleepy Hollow Pool is closed, we are excited to engage our community and assess aquatic facility needs for the Dundee Township community. A third party is assisting with the community engagement process and listening to feedback from our citizen advisory committee and the community. This process will take place

Photo/Video Policy The District occasionally takes photographs or video of participants for promoting/ advertising our programs, services, events, activities, and facilities in our brochures, website or agency social media, and other promotional avenues By registering for, participating in or attending District programs, events, or other activities, the participant (or parent/guardian of a minor participant) irrevocably agrees to the use and distribution by the Park District of his or her image (or of his minor child/ward) in photographs, video recordings, and any other electronic reproductions of such programs, events and activities for any purpose without inspec tion or approval and without compensation, rights to royalties or any other consideration now and in the future Refund Policy If a program is canceled for any reason, a full refund will be issued to each participant All other refunds are subject to a $5 service charge To request a refund for any other reason, please complete the Refund/ Transfer Request Form available at the Rakow Center and Randall Oaks Recreation Center Guest Services or download at https://www dtpd org registration-information/ You may mail, drop off or email this form to a Guest Services Manager at guestservices@dtpd org • If you are not satisfied with the quality of a program, you must attend two class sessions and fill out the Refund/Transfer Request Form prior to the third class meeting A full refund will then be given Your input on this form will help us identify where improvement is needed • If you are not able to participate in a program due to medical reasons, please submit a doctor’s note along with the Refund/Transfer Request Form If class has already started, a refund may be prorated At least half of the program/activity must remain to be eligible to receive a refund • All other refunds must be submitted one week prior to the start of the program • Direct individual expenses incurred such as T-shirts, uniforms, costumes, etc will be deducted from refunds If a refund is approved, a receipt will be emailed to the household after processing We reserve the right to issue a refund in the form of household credit If a refund is approved for returned payment: • Original payment by cash or check will receive a refund in the form of a check • Original payment paid by credit/debit card will receive credit on the card with which payment was made, when possible Submission of a Refund Request Form does not guarantee a refund All refund requests are subject to review and approval by the program supervisor If a refund is denied, the program supervisor will be in contact to inform you Due to a large amount of information provided in the Dundee Township Park District seasonal program guide a change may occur regarding days, times, fees, or other information after publication. Capital Projects Update We are excited about two projects underway and anticipate both being completed in the current calendar year. Randall Oaks Zoo – World of Wonders Building – The new World of Wonders building is set to open this summer, and we can't wait for you to see it. Many of the reptiles in the front of the zoo will be relocated to this climate-controlled facility along with some new animal inhabitants. This new facility will allow the zoo to be open year-round to visitors. Canterfield Park – This Village of West Dundee owned park will be developed this year with the $400,000 OSLAD grant received, and it is anticipated to be opened after the summer. The Park District will enter into an agreement with the Village and maintain the park once it is open. This park will be located at the southwest corner of Rte. 31 and Boncosky Road. Aqua Babes 6 months-3 years with parent This program aims to help infants or toddlers become comfortable in and around the water with a parent or guardian. Parents will learn techniques to orient their children with the water and supervise water activities safely. IMPORTANT NOTES TO PARENTS: All children who are not potty trained must wear reusable aqua diapers. A parent must be in the water with their child. ^ Aqua Babes Fee: $55 (R) /$72 (NR) Level 1 3-5 years Your child will learn how to go underwater with an instructor and retrieve objects. Your child will also learn how to jump into the pool from the side, submerge and come up to float for five seconds. Group Swim Lessons We provide year-round swimming lessons for children ages six months to ten years, taught by instructors certified through the Starfish Aquatic Institute. Our small class sizes and nurturing environment help each child gain confidence in the water. Register your child for a level based on their abilities in the water.

Level 2 4-10 years Your child will learn how to jump into the water, recover for air and swim for ten feet. He or she will also be introduced to the streamline form. Level 3 4-10 years In this level, your child will learn how to roll from one-side glide position to the other and be able to do their back and front stream recovery in side-guide position as well as kick for ten feet. Level 4 4-10 years Upon completion of this level, your child will be able to start in a glide position and swim 25 yards of backstroke and 25 yards of consistent freestyle. Level 5 4-10 years Your child will learn the butterfly and breaststroke. Upon completion of this level, your child will be able to swim four strokes of butterfly with only one breath and swim 25 yards of breaststroke. Level 6 4-10 years Your child will work on all of the strokes and build his or her endurance. Upon completion of this level, your child will be able to swim 50 yards of freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly. They will also learn flip and open turns.

• A swimsuit and towel are required • Goggles are accepted but are not encouraged for lower levels • Personal flotation devices of any kind are not permitted • Upon completion of each session, participants will receive a certificate of completion detailing the skills performed successfully and/or those needing improvement • Please arrive at class early and ready to swim on time Participants should use the restroom before class and wait for their instructor to call their names on the pool deck Do not go near the water before your class begins • Please observe your child from the bleacher area only Pictures and parent interactions are encour aged on the last day of class • Any child, not toilet trained must wear reusable aqua diapers (available for purchase at the Rakow Registration Desk) No type of disposable diapers will be permitted • Cancellations & Make-Ups: Lessons may be canceled due to unsatisfactory pool conditions, holidays, routine maintenance, low enrollment, and swim meets Cancellations will be made up at a later date Sorry, there are no other make-ups except when the Park District cancels a class. • Lifeguards will be present

Jr. Dolphin Pre-Swim 6-14 years Are you unsure about joining the swim team, but have been through swim lessons and want something more? Then look no further than our Junior Dolphin Pre-Swim Team. This pre-team will help you build endurance, refine stroke techniques, and be in a team setting without having the big competitive team feel. Two time trials are held so that swimmers can see improvements. No ISI fee is required for this team, and swimmers will receive a Dolphin swimming cap. Active Aging - This class is for core strengthening, balance, and cardio conditioning. Ai Chi - This class is designed to strengthen and tone the body while promoting relaxation, flexibility, increasing metabolism and establishing body-mind connection. Deep Well Cardio & Toning - Participants are suspended in deep water with a flotation belt. Focus is on cardiovascular conditioning as well as toning and stretching. This class is held outdoors and is conducted weather permitting. Water Cardio & Toning - This low impact class, focuses on cardiovascular conditioning and includes toning and stretching. Lifeguard Training 15-50 years Want to become a certified lifeguard? Sign up for a lifeguard training and learn the necessary skills that allow you to become a certified lifeguard. Sports Camp will play different sports throughout the week along with other summer game favorites. Staff will teach basic game play, but the focus is always on fun!
