Fall Guide 2026

Parents/Guardians • Upon completion of each session, participants will receive a certificate of completion detailing the skills performed successfully and/or those needing improvement. • Observe your child from the bleacher area only. Pictures and parent interactions are encouraged on the last day of class. • Cancellations may accrue due to unsatisfactory pool conditions, maintenance, low enrollment, and swim meets. Cancellations will be made up at a later date. Sorry, there are no other make-ups except when the Park District cancels a class. • Lifeguards are present.

SWIM LESSONS

LEVEL 1 Your child will learn how to go underwater with an instructor and retrieve objects. Your child will also learn how to jump into the pool from the side, submerge and come up to float for five seconds. Can your child confidently be on their back and go under water? No, stay in level 1. Yes, move to level 2. 2 Your child will learn how to jump into the water, recover for air and swim for ten feet. They will also be introduced to the streamline form. 3 At this level, your child will learn how to roll from one-side glide position to the other and be able to do their back and front stream recovery in side-guide position as well as kick for10 feet. 4 Upon completion of this level, your child will be able to start in a glide position and swim 25 yards of backstroke and 25 yards of consistent freestyle. Can your child confidently float on both their stomach and back as well as have a basic “dog gie” paddle? No, stay in level 2. Yes move to level 3. Can your child roll from one glide position to the other? No, stay in level 3. Yes move to level 4.

3-5 years

4-10 years

• The use of cameras, cell phone cameras, video recording devices etc. is prohibited in the bathroom and locker room areas. Video recording and photography of any kind within the pool area must be approved by the pool manager. ⛔ Not Recommended • Goggles

• Ready to swim at class start time • Use restroom prior to class

• Reusable aqua diapers are included in the Aqua Babes fee, if additional diapers are needed they are available for purchase.

Can your child successfully rotary breathe and swim backstroke for 25 yards each? No, stay in level 4. Yes move to level 5.

5 Your child will learn the butterfly and breast

Can your child successfully swim the butterfly and breaststroke for 25 yards? No, stay in level 5. Yes move to level 6. stroke. Upon completing this level, your child will be able to swim four strokes of butterfly with only one breath and swim 25 yards of breaststroke. Your child will work on all of the strokes and build their endurance. Upon completing this level, your child will be able to swim 50 yards of freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke and butterfly. They

will also learn flip and open turns. 6
