Baton/Flag Spinning

Baton Please wear athletic clothing that is easy to move in, tennis shoes, and have hair pulled back off of the face. Batons will be available to purchase from the instructor. 4-5 years “Ready, set, twirl!” Learn the basics of baton twirling and dance in this special class, just for younger students. Dance, marching, musicality, and rhythm will be incorporated into combinations and routines. Basic full hand twirls, simple tosses, and dance steps will be put together into fun combinations. Students will improve hand-eye coordination, musicality, and rhythm learning both individual skills and short routines. Performance opportunities may be available. Get ready for a variety of releases and catches in both hands, high aerials, and more difficult rolls. Students will learn a solo twirling routine and be introduced to the fundamentals of competitive baton twirling. Flag Spinning Please wear comfortable athletic clothing (no jeans or skirts), tennis shoes, and have hair pulled back and secured away from the face and shoulders. Bring a water bottle. Students are grouped by age and experience. A variety of flags are provided by Allegiance Color Guard. www.allegiancecg.org Flag Spinning-Level 1 8-14 years Toss a flag; catch the fun! Level 1 is open to brand new beginners and students with some flag/color guard experience. In this class, students will learn basic flag spinning, tossing fundamen tals, technique exercises, and short routines to music; while building hand-eye coordination, self-esteem and confidence. Many enroll in Level 1 multiple times to gain more experience, achievement and poise. Fee includes equipment rental and complimentary T-shirt. Family and friends are invited to a special showcase performance on Dec. 17 and an optional performance at a color guard show in early 2025! Contractual 44236-00 Sept. 17-Dec. 17* Tu/5:30-7:00 pm $125(R)/$155(NR) RA *No Class: 11/5, 11/26 Flag Spinning-Level 2 9-16 years Open to students who have previous flag/color guard experi ence. Flag spinning, tossing, dancing, technique, exchanges and intermediate level choreography will be taught. Content will be differentiated according to students’ abilities. Routines will be more layered and complex than Level 1. This class can supple ment and enrich marching band color guard student’s skill. May enroll in Level 2 multiple times, for more in-depth skill devel opment and achievement. Fee includes equipment rental and complimentary T-shirt. Family and friends are invited to a special showcase performance on December 17, and an optional performance at a color guard show in early 2025! Join us for a fun-filled workshop for students with a variety of experience levels from beginners to advanced. Students will learn flag spinning and tossing fun damentals, technique exercises, choreography with music while building hand-eye coordination, self-esteem and confidence. Spook-tacular Flag Spinning Workshop - Ages 5-11 44239-00 Oct. 29 Tu/4:30-5:25 pm $10(R)/$15(NR) RA Winter Wonderland Flag Spinning Workshop - Ages 9-15 44238-00 Dec. 17 Tu/4:30-5:25 pm $10(R)/$15(NR) RA 6-14 years This competition team is open to anyone enrolled in Level 2 or higher. We will learn a dance twirl routine that will be performed at three competitions, including State and Regionals in June and July. Additional fees for costume and competition registration will be required.
